Garden Watering
Imagine relaxing in a garden with verdant planting, lush green lawns and flower filled beds. A quintessentially English idea of a garden perhaps, but one often not matched by reality. Too often warm Summer evenings in the garden are spent not relaxing, but struggling with hoses or watering cans battling to keep delicate plants alive.
A properly designed garden watering system however, can help create the dream. Imagine a garden where early each morning ultra efficient drip lines water the borders, pots and baskets have their own individual water supply, and lawns are watered by pop-up sprinklers that sink back into the lawn once their task has been completed. By the time the sun comes up the watering is finished, ensuring that evaporation is minimised.
Not only will an irrigation system save time and water more efficiently than a hand held hose, it will produce more rapid establishment of new plants and reduce losses.
For small projects, Access Irrigation can provide garden watering kits, all using high quality commercial grade equipment and available from our on-line store.
For larger projects, Access can provide a bespoke design, taking into account the unique features of you garden. Instructions and drawings are provided for self installation, or Access can arrange for installation of the system.
Each area of the garden is watered in a different way:
Garden watering for borders
For invisible watering drip lines can be laid on the surface of the bed and covered with a mulch. Not only is are drip lines the most water efficient way of watering, the even spacing of the drip pipes also ensures that the whole bed is evenly watered.
For established beds border sprinklers are an alternative method of watering. Although not quite so efficient, these systems are quicker to installed around existing plants and are visually interesting during operation.

Garden watering for lawns
A lush green lawn not only looks vibrant, but it copes better with heavy use. Pop-up sprinklers, hidden in the lawn, rise up at dawn and water the lawn areas, ensuring efficient and even watering. When first planted, lawn watering is vital for establishment.

Hanging basket watering
Hanging baskets dry out quickly and are difficult to reach. A basket watering system provides water to each individual basket, using pencil thin pipe for neatness. A simple timer will allow the baskets to be watered 2 or 3 times a day, using a low output dripper to minimise run-off.
Control systems
The simplist garden watering systems can be controlled by hand, but the best time to water is dawn, so a simple timer is often a good investment. Bespoke garden watering systems use sophisticated control systems which water each area of the garden in turn and can easily be adjusted as the season progresses. For state-of-the-art control, Access Irrigation can supply fully weather responsive controllers with a mini on-site weather station.
