Pop-up sprinkers watering lawn

For effective lawn watering you need quality gear driven pop-up sprinklers which are installed in the lawn using underground pipework - making the system invisible when not in use. The sprinkler rises out of the ground when watering commences, and covers the area in rain-like droplets. Once watering is finished, the sprinkler retracts back into the lawn, allowing uninterrupted mowing. Regular watering is also important in areas of heavy use, allowing the grass to recover even during dry weather. For areas with only shallow soil depths, regular irrigation is vital, as a few days of hot, dry weather will deplete the water reserves of the grass.

Although every lawn is different, two main types of sprinkler layout are used - edge watering and centre watering.

Edge watering places the sprinklers on the perimeter of the lawn, with the sprinklers operating on a 180 degree arc, spraying into the lawn. This configuration reduces over-spay and provides more even coverage in windy areas.

Centre watering keeps costs down by using fewer nozzles, as full circle nozzles are placed down the centre of the lawn, however to ensure reasonable coverage the sprinkler must be set to throw further than the lawn, resulting in less even watering and more over-spray.

New sprinkler heads for intricate lawn areas

Spray sprinklerWatering small lawn areas has always been difficult as the arc of spray varies from sprinkler to sprinkler. With a rotary sprinkler, when the arc changes, the precipitation rate changes as well, resulting in uneven water application. On way of combating this was to use 'matched precipitaion' spray heads, but these use much more water, resulting in small zones with high flow rates and the potential for high run-off.

The new MP rotator new spay head however, solves thase problems, giving an even precipitation rate with low water consumption.
