Irrigation Control Systems

Multi zone controller for irrigation systems

Access's irrigation control systems reliably supply water to irrigation schemes over long periods of time. Integrated weather stations mean our systems can respond to the changing seasons, and need very little user intervention.

Commercial irrigation controllers can control and monitor irrigation systems; operating pumps, solenoids, fertiliser units and, if necessary, even providing you with remote information.

Irrigation Zoning

Different areas of the irrigation project are zoned to ensure each planting type receives the correct amount of water. Borders can be watered every couple of days, whereas small planters will require water several times a day.

Irrigation zoning also helps ensure that the system does not exceed the available water supply. On large projects the controllers can monitor the flow of each zone to ensure the water flows do not exceed the capacity of the pump systems. They can also send fault reports if there is an over or under flow situation – for example a burst pipe.

Irrigation Controllers

Our simplest irrigation control systems are operated purely on the basis of time. Regardless of the weather conditions the controller will irrigate for a pre-determined length of time, meaning that plants may get watered even if it's raining.  This is suitable for small-scale projects, but larger schemes need improved weather sensitivity. Our irrigation controllers have an input for a rain sensor and the ability to easily increase or decrease the watering duration as the seasons change.

Our more sophisticated irrigation control systems incorporate an on-site mini weather station. Using temperature, humidity, solar radiation and wind speed, the unit can then calculate a highly accurate on-site evapo-transpiration (ET) figure. As the planting type and soil type are programmed in for each zone, the controller will automatically calculate the optimum watering requirements.

Studies have shown that ET calculations provide a highly realistic model of plant needs. This can help you make water savings of up to 50%.
