The Water Supply Regulations 1999 stipulate that non domestic irrigation systems, along with domestic irrigation systems that have pop-up sprinklers must be isolated from the mains water supply by a ‘Type AB’ air gap.
The tank has the option of a supplementary air gap tank which sits on top of the existing tank. This gives compliance without the need to cut overflow weirs into the side of the tank.
