Plastic irrigation valve boxes are often specified where there is the need for a valve box that will withstand pedestrian traffic.
We sell two ranges, a lower cost model which is suitable for light pedestrian traffic in areas such as gardens and private grounds; and the Carson irrigation valve boxes which are specified to EN124 Class A15 for pedestrian traffic and are more suitable for golf courses where golf buggies will be present.
Available in a range of sizes the valve boxes are used to cover irrigation control valves and water take-off points. This allows the valves to be distributed around the property, closer to the irrigation zones they are supplying. As solenoid irrigation valves require regular maintenance, it is important to locate them somewhere that they can be easily located and serviced. Next to a path or on the edge of the lawn are ideal locations. The rectangular valve box lid features a bolting mechanism to prevent unauthorised tampering. The Carson boxes are also available with an optional steel plate cover for enhanced durability.
Valve boxes have a green plastic cover to help them blend into the site. It is recommended that a weed suppressant membrane is put at the bottom of the valve box and a small amount of gravel put on top of the membrane to aid drainage and keep the box clean. It is also important to put a warning label on the box up to indicate that the irrigation water in not potable.
